For 25 years Nancy and Joe McDonald have been the strongest advocates for the LGBT community of Tulsa. Nancy has testified before the US Congress on behalf of LGBT equal rights.
Nancy was the president of PFLAG National and led them to become the first LGBT organization to support our transgender siblings. She has made countless trips to the Oklahoma Capitol to advocate for children, education, LGBT individuals and women's reproductive rights.
In the 80s Nancy led the community and persuaded public policy makers to find more funding and establish comprehensive health services for those living with HIV and AIDS.
In the mid 90s she became the strongest voice for a permanent home for the LGBT community and one of the first fund raisers for the Dennis R. Neill Equality Center.
Due to some recent health challenges Nancy is being advised by her physician to slow down and focus more on her health needs.
So we want to make this year's PFLAG Holiday Potluck Dinner the biggest and best ever and to show her our deep appreciation.
