Andrew Lippa’s Wild Party, directed by Meghan Hurley, evokes the glamour, sensuality, and decadence of Manhattan in the roaring twenties. The story, based on the book-length poem of the same name, chronicles an evening in the life of Queenie and Burrs, lovers and fellow vaudeville performers. To test the limits of their fierce and hot-blooded relationship, Queenie throws the wildest, most hedonistic party New York has ever seen. However, as the reckless and alluring guests arrive – all with stories of their own – seduction gives way to unbridled passion, and what began as an evening of games and titillation ends in violence. Wild Party, with a driving score by Andrew Lippa, blends contemporary music with the sounds of the Jazz Age.
The production stars Tabitha Littlefield as Queenie, Rick Harrelson as Burrs, Andrew Zapata as Black, and Kaley Durland as Kate, with several of Tulsa’s favorite performers rounding out the cast. Wild Party will be staged in and around the audience, putting them right in the middle of the story. Music director Christy Stalcup leads a seven-piece band in swinging songs inspired by the era accompanied by wild dance performances choreographed by Brennan Peters. Start the party early with a special four-course dinner before the show, crafted especially for the occasion by Ludger's Catering & Events. Deco inspired cocktails will be served by IDL Ballroom with a decadent backdrop befitting the era.
